Surprise guest in Square-Enix event - Umehara!

Street Fighter legend Daigo Umehara appear as special guest and pro gamer in Square-Enix press conference. This event announced upcoming arcade STG Gunslinger Stratos, Umehara talked to the game producer Nobuki Kadoi and it was revealed that Umehara already tried the game back in November. According to the announcer, he is "official supporter" of the game.

Gunslinger Stratos is an online 4 vs. 4 team battle game, players are able to choose different guns/weapons according to the selected character as well as customize it. The stages in the game are design according to the real locations in Japan (it's an idea i wish to be in game long time ago :p), and they are fully destructible. The game cabinets are all linked so they can multiplay with everyone in Japan, otherwise, player can choose to play with CPU or their own group member too.

Gunslinger Stratos is set to be release in the summer of 2012, don't forget to check out their Official Site here. It would hava a national tournament in Japan as well, officially host by Square-Enix, like what they did for Dissidia: Final Fantasy before.

Congrats to Daigo and Tokido!

$10k for you, Umehara

There are two tournament in the past week (10-12th June 2011), CEO 2011 in Orlando, Florida, and ReveLAtions 2011 in Los Angeles, California. Both events main Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition title in the tournament, and both of them won by legendary Japanese player.

Daigo Umehara, who switched his main character from Ryu to Yun since SSFIV: AE release, and Mago who had mastered Fei Long in SSFIV claimed the first and second place of ReveLAtions, while Tokido (aka Murderface) won CEO 2011 in both SSFIV: AE and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 title!

Grand Final of ReveLAtions 2011 - Mago vs. Daigo Umehara!

There something special happened in ReveLAtions during the rest time before SSFIV: AE top 8 matches is started, a table setup for getting autograph of Daigo and Mago, and so many people line up for their autograph and shake their hand, they are superstar! lol

Other than them, we also see many top players around from world in both of these events like Sako, Ricky Ortiz, Filipino Champ, Gootecks, Hsien, GamerBee and many others. In the CEO 2011 side, the player has caught my attention was Mike Ross, he has a great performance with his E.Honda, but too bad in the late in the final he face a tough character against him, Dhalsim which played by TS Sabin, and eventually he only get the 3rd place.

On CEO 2011 side, Justin Wong vs. Tokido in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is here:

Anyway, if you missed out these events, you can watch the replay of the full events through the Justin.tv links below:

The Greatest Super Mario Bros. Playthrough

It may not be the speediest of playthrough. It may not dazzle with its exploitation of glitches. But this Super Mario Bros. speed run is notable because this player (named "agwawaf") is also simultaneously beating Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels. He says he "completed the four games with one input." That's four games finished with one controller in under 14 minutes—in part thanks to "tool assisted" gameplay, meaning "agwawaf" played the four NES Super Mario Bros. games with the help of an emulator that slowed gameplay dramatically and let him stitch together multiple attempts to get the job done. Looks like the Super Mario Bros. games are not as hard as I played long time ago.

Check out more crazy tool assisted speed run video's at agwawaf's YouTube channel. Hope you enjoy his show.

Daigo's stunning moves 2010

Daigo Umehara (梅原 大吾), known as "Daigo" or "The Beast" in the west, he is the most famous and the greatest Street Fighter player who holds the Guinness World Records of "the most successful player in major tournaments of Street Fighter".

Previously he used Ryu as his SSIV and SSFIV main character, and some times Guile and Ken. Hence the Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition is released, he has switched his main character to Yun, so we might not able to see his Ryu, Guile action anymore in the future events.

This is collection video for some of his best and stunning moves from several Super Street Fighter IV tournaments in year 2010, salute the Beast's contribution... Well, I'm lack of video editing skill, the video's sound is out of sync especially at the back, I apologize with my bad, but I hope you guys still enjoying it.

Additionally, Daigo has a message for his 2011 activity:

"Although I am eager to accept a challenge from any part of the world, recently I have decided to be more selective in the events I attend. Although I have been very successful, competing in so many tournaments around the world meant too much time in airplanes and hotels, and not enough time practicing. Since the competition on Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition will be primarily focused in Japan for the near future, and in order to prepare for the new challenges in 2011, I will focus my attention here until the largest international events begin in the summer." - Daigo Umehara
