Xbox LIVE and other online users beware!

As you know Sony PSN encounter a big intrusion late of April 2011 (20 Apr) caused the network down for over a week and many other problems. Search it if you are interested, I'm lazy to describe it here.

After a week of the PSN case, Xbox LIVE seems getting attack too as the video mention above. But just want to remind all gamers again, sometimes users' information being used by others not because the hackers hacked the accounts, it's because the users give their information to the unknown people such as some email from the fake banks, fake companies that will ask you reply immediately with your password, address, "click here to submit"... etc. So do not response any emails from the unknown senders, otherwise it's hard to tell you how worse the things can happen afterwards.

Square-Enix's Imaginary Range

Square-Enix's new title for the iPhone/iPod, Imaginary Range (イマジナリーレンジ). Ya Square-Enix is prepare for that since they have a team for smartphone platforms nowaday. The release date will be May 5, and the price is--get ready for this--free!

As for the genre, they're calling it a game x comic. As you read through the comic, there might be items hidden within the panels, or scenes that require you to clear a game to progress. It's neither an ordinary game, nor an ordinary comic. And the games are simple enough for anyone to tackle, so those of you who just want to enjoy the comic don't need to worry. Well, it doesn't sound like a real game for me :S

Here for asome words from our producer Mr. Hashimoto.

"I had planned for this project to be part of a MEMBERS Twitter celebration. Last year, I was thinking it would commemorate reaching 20,000 followers, but thanks to everyone's enthusiastic support, we quickly surpassed the original plan, and as a result, it has become a 25,000-follower celebration. We will be releasing on iOS and Android, platforms with worldwide penetration. During the initial stages, we proceeded with the development lightheartedly. However, with an original scenario by Tsukushima and illustrations by Itahana, we were able to create an enjoyable app. By all means, please enjoy it, and we look forward to your continued support of SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS."

Beyond the Labyrinth on 3DS

Tri-Ace revealed their first 3DS project in this week's Famitsu is a 3DS game called Beyond the Labyrinth and to be published by Konami on the Nintendo 3DS. Beyond the Labyrinth is being directed by the director of Resonance of Fate and Valkyrie Profile 2, Takayuki Suguro, and produced by Konami's Shingo Mukaitouge.

Interviewed in the magazine, the Mukaitouge and tri-Ace CEO Yoshiharu Gotanda revealed the game to be a 3D dungeon RPG. Aside from this, they were being vague in their commentary. They showed artwork of a young girl and said that the story will center on her, but wouldn't confirm her to be the main character. Of course, they did not share her name.

Beyond the Labyrinth is being developed to be a major draw for the 3DS, Mukaitouge said in closing. Currently 60% complete, the game is flagged date TBA in the magazine.

I miss this Biohazard / Resident Evil!

I don't know how many of you like the classic Resident Evil camera view and play style since the new Resident Evil are no longer keep this kind of gameplay, and seems players like the new gameplay a lot. If not mistake, it was changed since Resident Evil 4 which you can move your aim to any where like FPS games. It's more like action style for me and the game doesn't feel like "horror", I feel scary in my first playthrough, but it was because "I scare cannot beat that boss", not the type of "horror" scare, and the same thing goes for newer RE too.

Here's Resident Evil (Biohzard) Outbreak File #2 game play video while players are having fun in the Elimination mode, that needs eliminate all enemies before the time is out. Hope Capcom make an Outbreak File #3 or at least something similar as Outbreak, I believe there ARE some players like it.

More female clothes get ripped soon

Today's topic is about clothes ripping / clothes torn / clothing damage or whatever system it call on the female characters. About 10 years ago, female character design has become one of the "selling point" of a video games (of cause not all games), character designers tried hard to perfect female body, big boobs, big ass, and later jiggling boobs all around the games especially on action and fighting games. Last time someone from Gamespot forum mentioned most female characters are much like a hooker "One of the ways that hook your money".

Left = Aya from The 3rd Birthday, right = Nina from Death by Degree

Nina from Death by Degree doesn't consider have the clothes damage system, because her clothes ripped after some fighting scenes that trigger when you proceed to certain area, but the idea is already there.

Previously Square Enix's The 3rd Birthday is a best known game that has this clothes ripping system. After Aya (the character you control) get certain amount of damage during the battle her costume can get ripped until few little clothes left on her body.

See all her costumes before and after ripped

Beside this, many games like Queen's Blades, Ikki Tousen for PSP have it as well, and seems this system liked by many players from Asian (not sure how about Western gamers because I didn't get much feedback from my research, leave me your opinion would be great)

One of a popular fighting games, The King of Fighters has the "minor" clothes ripping in the KoF' 95 when you beat Yuri or King with a special move (Art of Fighting has it too?). This idea has been removed since KoF' 96 all the way to the King of Fighters XIII released in 2010, the female's "clothes ripping" comes back.

Here's the video of Iori super combo'd on King and the last hit did exactly like tearing her clothes off.

Alright, it wasn't a big deal actually, but I think people will curious in the future made of clothes ripping, and it's just in my view of the market's "requirement" in this and even next generation gaming, whether clothes ripping "system" or not, this kind of scenes are going to be common and normal. Lets just wait and see how games creators fulfill players desire.

Asura's Wrath has the biggest enemy in the game history

In Capcom Captivate 2011 a new trailer of Asura's Wrath is released to the public, and showing a big... I mean very big boss that you will face in the game. I think I never seen ONE enemy like this big in the gaming history (is there any?), this is planet-sized! And Asura is just a human size character, I'm really interested with this fight. Check out the trailer and more images at Kotaku here.

Asura's Wrath for X360 & PS3 create base on an original story, blends Asian Mythology with science fiction telling the story of an ancient god stripped of his powers who has sworn vengeance. "You have to be familiar with the Asian Mythology to understand the game..." - Kazuhiro Tsuchiya, the producer of Asura's Wrath.

The game starts out with Asura, one of the demi-gods protect the world, but Asura betrayed by the other demi-god and kidnapped his daughter. Asura is pretty angry about that, now he's on the the mission not only want to rescue his daughter but revenge on those betrayers. For more info, we should look forward to te E3 2011.

Check out the full interview at Gamespot Here

Beside this, Dragon's Dogma is also announced which was placed as a mystery countdown on their website.

Run and shoot in the two coming up Resident Evil

You can run and shoot, simultaneously, in the next two Resident Evil games, or all in the future? In the coming up Resident Evils, The Mercenaries 3D (3DS) and Operation Raccoon City (X360/PS3), you won't have to stop to shoot in either, you can run-and-gun!

Raccoon City is a team-based shooter, meant to be played either as black ops squad in its storyline campaign or as a competitive shootout in its multiplayer. In either mode, the game controls like a standard third-person shooter, letting you walk or run, shooting the whole time.

In the Mercenaries 3D, a Nintendo 3DS expansion of a mode that appeared in Resident Evil 4 and 5, sans running-and-gunning, players can aim down their gun's sights and then hustle, shooting when they want to. This game is played for points, the more you rack up per consecutive zombie kill, the better.

One of the creators of RE: The Mercenaries 3D, Tsukasa Takenaka said that the choice to let players move while shooting was easy for Mercenaries 3D. "The goal of of this game isn't the traditional goal of creating a Resident Evil horror atmosphere," he said. "Mercenaries is totally focused on the action and creating a more fast-paced game that is very different than the other Resident Evil games in the series."

How to create 3D image for your 3DS and how you adjust the distance

Basically you need 2 images with the objects in different position (left-right) and combine them to become a MPO file. We need a 3D photo tool to create it, what I use was StereoPhoto Maker (download here), also check out their Website here for more info. Once you ready, follow the steps below to create a 3DS picture:

1. Create 2 images/photo like sample above. You can see Sephiroth and background in the first image are at the left side and in the second image they are at the right.

2. Open StereoPhoto Maker (stphmkre.exe). Pull in the 2 images/photo you done, it should appear like the picture below:

3. Now select File -> Save MPO file..., your MPO file name must be "3 alphabet", "underscore", "4 numbers". Example ABC_0001.MPO, and do not put "0000" as its number.

4. Insert your SD Card into your PC and copy the MPO file(s) you done into "DCIM/100NIN03/" folder. Put back your SD Card to your 3DS and you should be able to view your 3D image/photo now.

How to adjust the 3D distance?

If you view my Sephiroth picture above, you will see he appears "deep" into the 3DS screen, while first image (left one) has the object at the left, and second image (right one) has the object at the right.

Let say I reverse the image to become first image (left one) has the object at the right, and second image (right one) has the object at the left, you will see the result of Sephiroth is like "popup" from the 3DS screen.

So the left and right range between both pictures adjust the distance of your 3D MPO picture.

What is the 3DS screen resolution?

The top screen is 400 x 240px (actual size is 800 x 240px for two eyes), and the bottom screen is 320 x 240px. But the picture only appears to be view on the top screen, so you should create the image based on 400 x 240px, and remember everytime you always have to create 2 images to form a MPO.

You can have a look at my MPO created with the Sephiroth image above for reference. Download it here.

Have fun.

Nintendo 3DS Star Pics & some user tips

AR Games is one of the outstanding feature of Nintendo 3DS. The game occurs with the AR Card that came together with the 3DS. After the first AR Game "Archery" has been completed, more options will become available and Star Pics is one of them (top mid box). The picture above is a result of capturing these Star Pics with my 3DS, you will see the character from the cards pop up in your 3DS screen, rearrange their positions to make your picture become interesting. But remember you should do this in the "AR Games" to get the result not under the "Camera".

Next, we talk about saving the pictures into your PC. It's as simple as most other camera of handphones.

- Remove your SD Card from the 3DS and insert to the PC
- Open "DCIM" folder in the SD Card device
- The picture that captured with your 3DS should be here, so backup that folder

StreetPass

I believe most people knew it, but in order to active it, should I active the StreetPass feature again after power off? Should I run the game before putting my 3DS into sleep mode?

Here's the answer for most FAQ. Once you active the StreetPass of the game, it will remain activated in your 3DS even if you have closed the game. You may activate up to 12 StreetPass in once. To check the activated StreetPass, go under "System Settings" -> "Data Management" -> "StreetPass Management".

---

Friend Code

Your Friend Code can be found in the "Smile icon" in the Home menu, it's located at the top of the touch screen. You also able to add/register new friend over there and maximum 100 friends can be stored in the Friend List. To delete friend, tap the "Settings" button and pick "Delete Friend Card".

---

Play Coins

Play Coin is earning according to how many steps taken during the 3DS in sleep mode.
100 steps taken = 1 Play Coin
Maximum 10 Play Coin per day
Maximum 300 Play Coins can be store at once

Actually as long as the 3DS is moving in the sleep mode the steps are counted, this means just hold your 3DS and swing does work, but I'm gonna inform you that you have 5% chance toss away your 3DS by accident in each swing (^.^)

Resident Evil series 15th Anniversary!

Resident Evil (aka Biohazard in Japan), if you can't remember when was the first one came out, this trailer tells you it's 15th Anniversary! The first Resident Evil was released in March 1996 for PlayStation and "survives" until now and keep on going. "Realizing your nightmare for 15 years...". The gaming experiences are getting advanced and improved, but for myself, I still like to play it in the classic camera view (example RE1-3, Outbreak...), not sure whether have chance to get one more classic camera RE in the future?

Check out the awesome trailer above which includes some footage of RE Code Veronica X, RE4 HD; RE Revelations, The Mercenaries 3D, and nevertheless, RE Operation Raccoon City!

Additional info, the REORC official site is here.

The Greatest Super Mario Bros. Playthrough

It may not be the speediest of playthrough. It may not dazzle with its exploitation of glitches. But this Super Mario Bros. speed run is notable because this player (named "agwawaf") is also simultaneously beating Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels. He says he "completed the four games with one input." That's four games finished with one controller in under 14 minutes—in part thanks to "tool assisted" gameplay, meaning "agwawaf" played the four NES Super Mario Bros. games with the help of an emulator that slowed gameplay dramatically and let him stitch together multiple attempts to get the job done. Looks like the Super Mario Bros. games are not as hard as I played long time ago.

Check out more crazy tool assisted speed run video's at agwawaf's YouTube channel. Hope you enjoy his show.
