Final Fantasy VII world map "Earth" edition

Holiday with low activities scheduled, that's why this thing come cross my mind, "what does FF7 world look like... from a satellite?". If FF7 world is a planet just like Earth, orbiting a star like our Sun, in a distance where keeps water in liquid form and so on... the color and looks should be similar like our Earth (or I'm wrong?), so I put all the Earth-like texturing and color to similize the Earth, so hopefully it looks more like a real planet. And this is it, Final Fantasy VII world in the reality form.

My iOS games update 12/16/11

One of the titles within my wish list has a BIG DISCOUNT! "RPG - Symphony of Eternity" now selling $0.99, dropped from $8.99!

This game was releaseed in Japanese and recently updated with English support. Overall gameplay similar to old Final Fantasy (1-6), the enemy encounter system is not random, you can actually see the enemy icon in the map, so you can evade the monster if you don't want to fight. I did try it on the old iPhone (3G) and it works well, unlike many new apps that didn't support old generation iPhones. It's worth to get it at $0.99 for gamers who like RPG, probably this discount is just for the coming Christmas.

Check out Symphony of Eternity on iTunes.

Additionally, another popular title that I like is Plants vs. Zombies, it's selling at $0.99 as well!

RE: Revelations Japanese Limited Edition!

Up coming 3DS title Resident Evil / Biohazard Revelations is announced the Limited Edition that comes with a nice looking "cross shoulder bag" sized 280 x 200 x 40mm, and a DVD in the bundle.

While several events mentioned this game won't include Co-op multiplayer, the Japanese e-Capcom has stated "Local Play, Internet Play..." under its product spec. Needless to say, it will be interesting if multiplayer is available on this game.

*** UPDATED 10/13/11

Okay, seems like many other game site noticed this as well, most of them have updated the number of player to 2 players with internet multiplayer. So, Resident Evil: Revelations is able to play online!

Shadow of the Damned - All Red Gems locations

The Red Gems in the game are use to boost your weapons and abilities. You can allocate them to any of the attributes of your weapons. There are 80 Red Gems in the game, most of them can be purchased and 38 of them are hidden in the game. Here's I found a video that shows you all the hidden Red Gem locations. After you done, "High in Las Vegas" achievement/trophy will be unlocked.

And it's no level select, so you better don't miss the Red Gems otherwise you have to restart the game.

Heroes of Ruin is planned for release in Spring 2012!

HoR's Coral Tombs concept art (click to enlarge):

When Square Enix revealed Heroes of Ruin, their first title with portable powerhouse nSpace, the game was on track for release in "early 2012." Square Enix plans on bringing the Nintendo 3DS dungeon crawler to New York Comic-Con. According to the same press release, the "early 2012" release shifted slightly to "spring 2012." Source from Siliconera

An action RPG that support online multiplayer, this is what I hungry-ed for my 3DS so long. Besides Diablo III, Heroes of the Ruin will be the game I could play for 2012, unless... the game sucks lol

There's a little chat room for 3DS that I used during RE: The Mercenaries 3D season, I think 3DS players can use it again for live chat in other multiplayer gaming like Heroes of Ruin.

Facebook games suffer activity decline?

The biggest 20 games operators on Facebook are combating a steady drop in daily user retention, an analyst group has said.

IHS Screen Digest claims that, during the first three quarters of 2011, the likes of Zynga and PopCap noticed a downward trend in user engagement.

User engagement is a specific metric that measures the ratio of daily active users versus monthly active users.

If the ratio is in decline, as the new data suggests, it means that those who log on to Facebook games every month are doing so less on a day-to-day basis.

High user engagement is seen as an important metric for social games groups because it means more players are exposed to other games advertised across game networks and, in theory, are more likely to pay for virtual items.

Capcom Smurfs' Village for the Android Platform

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) is pleased to announce that our subsidiary company, Beeline Interactive, Inc. (Beeline), will start distributing social games for the Android platform as part of measures to expand sales of games for multiple platforms. Distribution of the first Android social game, "Smurfs' Village", will begin on September 28.

"Smurfs' Village" is based on a well-known historical comic in Belgium that features little people called the "Smurfs". Players in this social game create fields, build houses and engage on other activities to create a village according to their likes and dislikes. The game has become a mega-hit around the world. "Smurfs' Village" has recorded more than 15 million downloads for the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad platform (iOS hereafter). Furthermore, this game is the top-grossing app on Apple's App Store in 69 countries.

The market for games used on mobile devices continues to grow rapidly primarily because of the increasing use of smartphones worldwide and the popularity of social games. Sales of Android devices are posting strong growth, ranking first in global sales volume due to the use of Android as a platform for smartphones. Capcom's "Smurfs' Village" for distribution to iOS devices has been an enormous success. Now Capcom plans to reinforce its multi-platform approach for supplying games for the iOS and Android platforms. The aim is to establish a position at the forefront of the Android market as well, chiefly outside Japan, in order to further increase the scale of activities in the market for mobile games.

We here at Capcom are committed to the development of new and creative social games and plan to take the rapidly expanding mobile market by storm through our two-pronged strategy, one primary "Capcom" brand and another second "Beeline" brand. Our Capcom will continue to focus on home console systems, which will make synergy effects by both brands. Through this, the Capcom Group aims to continue expanding and increasing our brand value.

Diablo III to Arrive in Early 2012

"With every game we make, the temptation is always very strong to launch as soon as possible. However, we didn't put so many years of work into Diablo III to release a game that was almost ready," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "The beta test is going very well, and we look forward to making the most of the extra time we're taking to deliver an experience that lives up to our vision for the game and the expectations of our players. Next year is going to be an incredibly busy one for Blizzard, and we hope an incredibly fun one for Blizzard gamers."

Play Diablo III with a controller is better?

"One of the reasons why we’re exploring the idea of a console version of Diablo 3 because we feel that the controls and the style of the game lend itself to a console. With some of our early experiments in putting a direct control scheme into the game via a 360-like analogue controller, I’ve been 'Oh this feels even better, with direct control…'" game director Jay Wilson mentioned.

Why many 3DS games exclude online multiplayer support?

Nintendo's Yusuke Amano has explained the reasons behind the lack of an online mode in Star Fox 64 3D, and it's possible the reasons of many 3DS games did not included online mode so far.

"This leads me to think that just making multiplayer parts of existing games playable online isn't enough to create a satisfying experience for users. The popular online games work in lots of things, so they play well online - and if we wanted to satisfy everyone who bought the game, the costs required for including online support would be vast."

Yet it wasn't just a matter of cost. There was also a time issue and the developers decided to prioritize the 3D visuals over online play.

Heroes of Ruins new building - Coral Tombs

A brand-new build of Heroes will be appearing at this Penny Arcade Expo - PAX Prime 2011.

This is the beautiful yet haunting Coral Tombs! Originally an ancient graveyard, the tombs (and some of the surrounding area) were subsequently claimed by the sea. As such the now exposed areas are a mix of coral shoals, wrecked ships, hidden buildings, flotsam and jetsam which has washed in with the invading waves. The tombs hold rich rewards as well as the odd buried secret for those who venture in, but for those that don't know the dangers, a nasty fate likely awaits at the hands of fish beast, shark men and the giant crabs which populate the various levels. Not to mention some spookier and truly colossal beasties.

Imagine if your 3DS is able to capture... ghost!

Okay, have a short break from my RE: Mercenaries 3D gaming, because I found this game with a great idea, and that's what I wished for long time! Since the time when some iPhone games play by using the camera, my mind pop up an idea "what if a game like Fatal Frames that uses a real camera? (Fatal Frames is an horror game, and camera is the weapon to kill the ghosts and spirits)

Now this is The Hidden! Announced few months ago, and now we can see some screens from Majesco website. This game caught my attention, I want this brings the horror into reality, that would be interesting, hope it won't disappoint.

Resident Evil 3D - In-game Mini Tips

Dealing with Parasite
Throw a Flash Grenade can kill a parasite pop up from the enemy's head. Any hits with electric shot (Thunderbolt skill or Claire's G. Launcher) does large damage to the parasite.

To prevent parasite grow out from enemy, you can kill an enemy with instant kill attack, below listed all available instant kill moves.
- Chris - Neckbreaker (leg shot, from behind)
- Jill - Head Grab (leg shot, from behind)
- HUNK - The End (leg Shot, in front)
- HUNK - Executioner (leg shot, in front)
- Krauser - Throat Slit (leg shot, from behind)
- Krauser - Stinger (leg shot, in front)

Dealing with Duvalia
Duvalia (one of the two Parasite, the one with shell), when you run out of Flash Grenade, it is hard to be killed by gunshot. Their weak part is inside its mouth, protected by the shell. You should shoot their back or leg until their mouth opens, and shoot at their weak point for great damage.

Mini boss explosion
Always remember all bosses except Garrador (claw) will explode when killed, even some normal majinis as well.

Instant reload near explosion
When you reload near any explosion (example the explosion from mini bosses), your character will get into "self cover" animation instead of reloading, meawhile, your weapon has been reloaded.

Voice commands
How do you do a voice command? Hold X button (taunt) and press any direction on the D-pad to input a command. Here's the list:
X + Up = Go
X + Down = Wait
X + Left = Thanks
X + Right = Come one

Wesker special move
Press "Right" on the D-pad to perform a dash, press "Y" during the dash for a knee attack.

SS rank for Level 2 & Level 3 Solo missions
Your rank is based on the final score, and the remaining time of the mission affects the final score, so you have to keep your time as high as possible. The best way is kill the enemies with melee attack, every time an enemy killed by melee attack will add 5 second to the timer. I recommend set the skills that enhance your melee attack so you can kill the enemy with a single hit.

Do not take double Combo Bonus
When your partner pick up a Combo Bonus, the "Combo Time" will display on the top right corner, now do not pick up another Combo Bonus again.

Shoot the Chicken
The chicken probably drops you a herb and adds a combo count, so it's consider 1 of the 150 enemies in certain missions.
