Capcom Brings Survival Horror to Next-gen Systems with Resident Evil 5!

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) is pleased to announce the official release date for
“Resident Evil 5” (named Biohazard 5 for Japan), the latest installment in our popular Resident Evil series. The game will be released in Japan on March 12, 2009, and in North America and Europe on March 13, 2009.
“Resident Evil 5” continues the survival horror theme of the wildly popular series while focusing on the contrast of light and darkness to brings fans a new horror gaming experience.
The release of “Resident Evil 5” is also part of Capcom’s multi-platform strategy of bringing quality gaming experiences to as many users as possible. The game will have a simultaneous worldwide release on both the PLAYSTATION®3 and Xbox 360™ home consoles. The use of MT Framework allows our development teams to take into consideration the technical differences between platforms when developing games. The use of this engine contributed to the increase in sales for our multi-platform titles in the past year, and we hope to repeat that success in this term starting with “Resident Evil 5.”
The Resident Evil series has shipped over 34.5 million units worldwide (as of May 31, 2008), and has become one of Capcom’s most popular flagship franchises. From reinventing the horror gaming genre, to our successful Hollywood films, Resident Evil has retained an ever-increasing world fan base since the first title debuted back in 1996.
